That day was the birthday of a five-year-old girl named Anna Gries. The small town she and her parents lived was the one that possessed beautiful scenery and her best friends ever before. The small, familiar and peaceful town now was replaced with burning corpses and broken buildings. And Anna whose last memory about the birthday party was only filled with flames on her farther as well as terrified emotions of her mother while escaping.
Nobody knew how many days had passed away. When Anna in rags was found by a nun of Niece Convent, she had herself hidden in an abandoned granary on her own with hunger and fear. The narrow space, a lack of food and medicines, the threat of the war and the grief of losing families and friends–each one of them could give them nothing but the despair.
